Bucks vs. Suns 2021 NBA Finals - Who Will Win? Betting Odds, Predictions

July 5, 2021 by David Nugent

NBAThe 2021 NBA Finals are here as North America, and the rest of the world gears up for what should be one hell of a series to finish off this season of National Basketball Association action.

The campaign is always pretty relentless with a schedule as naturally unforgiving as basketball with games pretty much being played every day. Through it all, though, two franchises have been able to emerge from their sleeping giant status with real vigour: and those teams are the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns as we predicted during the playoffs.

The Finals are back to the pre-COVID state of playing games between the two host cities as opposed to being in a bubble, giving fans from all over the country a chance to witness this grand event live and in living colour.

The travel restrictions are mostly clear, the fans are ready, and we’re feeling pretty pumped up.

What happened in the 2020 NBA Finals?

The COVID-19 pandemic ensured that we were left with some kind of strange bubble Finals last year in what was a fascinating West vs East war between Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.

LeBron James was the man of the moment again and, after an incredibly difficult year in which the pandemic hit and we lost Kobe Bryant, the Lakers pulled themselves together and beat the Heat 4-2 to get back to the top of the mountain after 10 years.

2021 NBA Finals Team Analysis

The showpiece event of the year in the world of basketball is the NBA Finals, regardless of whether or not the Summer Olympics are taking place. That line of thinking is no different this time around with the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks knowing the stakes associated with the next 4-7 games.

When you put the championship droughts of both teams together, it adds up to an utterly unthinkable 103 years that they’ve been waiting for a title – and for one of them, that wait will come to an end in just a matter of weeks.

Milwaukee Bucks

Latest Odds: +170

The Milwaukee Bucks have just one championship crown to their name and it came back in 1971 under the guidance of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Ever since then, they’ve been through a real dry spell, and it’s only been in the last few years that they’ve strung themselves back into contention. Now, it’s all about finally getting over that finish line.

Milwaukee wasn’t exactly made to work much for their first-round victory as they blew the doors off of the Miami Heat in a 4-0 shutout. From there, though, it got a little bit more complicated as they were forced to scratch and claw to a game seven before seeing off the Brooklyn Nets 4-3. A similar trend happened in the Conference Finals when they beat the Atlanta Hawks 4-2 after an unbelievable fight by Atlanta.

Giannis AntetokounmpoStar Player: Giannis Antetokounmpo

They call him the “Greek Freak” and it’s not hard to see why.

Giannis who was voted 2018 & 2019 MVP has been on the sidelines for the last few games but if there’s one man who has been waiting to explode into life in the Finals, it’s him.

The Bucks have helped his development massively but a man like this was always going to thrive and rise to the top of the pack – which is why he’s favoured to do well in this series.

Phoenix Suns

Latest Odds: -200

The Phoenix Suns were able to really set the world on fire last year in the bubble but this time around, they took their game to an entirely new level. They’re playing with the sort of freedom and confidence that would leave many forgetting they haven’t actually won an NBA championship before since first entering the league.

It was unlikely that the Los Angeles Lakers would repeat their heroics this time around but they did give the Suns a good fight, leading to a 4-2 series victory for Phoenix. They didn’t have quite as much trouble in a 4-0 demolition of the Denver Nuggets, with the other half of the LA equation being put to rest with a 4-2 Conference Finals triumph over the Clippers.

Devin BookerStar Player: Devin Booker

There’s something about Devin Booker that just seems to help everyone calm down a little bit.

He’s viewed as someone with wisdom that goes far beyond his years in the sport and that manifests onto the pitch.

He glides around with ease, finds open space and seems to be feeding off of the energy being generated by the crowd.

Prediction

We really do think Phoenix has the better overall roster of the two teams competing for the title of world champions, which is why we’re backing them to get off to a lightning start by taking the first game of the series. Alas, we just feel as if the Bucks have finally come into their own as a team, to the point where they’ll be hard to beat over the course of seven games – should it get that far.

We tend to believe it will all be said and done in six with the Greek Freak finally writing the chapter of his story that he’s been waiting to tell for years. Booker and company will give it their all but with Game 6 falling in Wisconsin, we don’t think the Bucks are going to pass up the opportunity to see this out on their own home turf.

The Suns aren’t going to be a flash in the pan and should be back in the mix next year. Milwaukee, however, wants to seize the day – and even if Antetokounmpo isn’t ready in time for the opener, we still think their professionalism and fitness will guide them to the big one.

Official Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks win 4-2 and captures the NBA title
