Anthony Joshua is widely regarded as the best heavyweight boxer in the world right now and rightly so as he holds the IFB, WBA and WBO titles. He has an impeccable record with 22 fights, 22 wins and 21 of them by way of knock out!
Brit Anthony Joshua has preferred to fight in the United Kingdom and have the home advantage with him. This is the first time that he has decided to step out of his comfort zone and fight in the United States.
Joshua was initially scheduled to fight Jarrell Miller on June 1 at Madison Square Garden (MSG) and fans were looking forward to the fight after the two had a heated press conference.
However, the fight fell through after Miller tested positive for steroids and was banned.
Anthony Joshua’s camp succeeded in finding a replacement and now Mexican heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr gets the chance to step in at MSG and see if he can become the first boxer to let Joshua taste defeat.

Ruiz Set For Multi-Million Dollar Payday
Anthony Joshua wanted to fight Luis Ortiz once they found out that Miller was out of the picture but Ortiz wasn’t very keen which is a surprise given that just about every heavyweight wants a crack at Joshua. It not only gives them the opportunity to have a multi-million dollar payday but a chance to win three titles on the same night.
Andy Ruiz Jr has that opportunity and he is keen on grabbing it with both hands. He has a great record with 33 fights, 32 wins out of which 21 are by way of knock out. His only loss was when he challenged Joseph Parker for the WBO title that Tyson Fury vacated back in 2016. Ruiz lost that fight due to majority decision.
This time it is going to be a lot more difficult for Ruiz as he did not have time for a full fight camp and he is also facing a more dangerous boxer in Anthony Joshua. However, he is not fazed by the fight and is confident that he can come out on the winning side.
As the fight approaches, Ruiz said that he feels both sharp and alert and is prepared for whatever happens. He is counting on his speed and pressure to outbox Anthony Joshua and become the first Mexican heavyweight champion in history.
