Bangladesh Collapse Under Pressure To Hand India T20I Series Win

India wins T20I Series against Bangladesh 2019Bangladesh desperately wanted to win the third and final T20 match of the series against India as the two teams were on 1-1 and it was a fantastic opportunity for Bangladesh to secure their first T20 series win against India.

There were three things that Bangladesh had to get right in order to pull a win at the third T20 game which took place on Sunday night at Nagpur.

Bangladesh needed to win the toss, get the Indian openers early, restrict India to a reasonable score and then chase it down.

Bangladesh did the first two things they had to do easily. They won the toss and knowing that the dew factor would come into play, decided to bowl first.

They also dismissed the experienced opening pair of Rohit Sharma (2) and Shikhar Dhawan (19) cheaply to test the middle-order which has struggled in the past.

KL Rahul (52) and Shreyas Iyer (62) made sure they did not throw away their wickets and made sure India would get to a respectable total. Iyer played with a lot of freedom and hit 5 sixes and 3 fours to finish with a strike rate of 187. Manish Pandey (22) who came in for Krunal Pandya played a little cameo in the end to take India to a strong total of 174.

Deepak Chahar Takes 6 For 7

There is always going to be pressure when you chase in a final game but the dew factor kind of balanced things. The Indian spinners struggled to grip the ball and take wickets, so it became critical for the seamers to fire. R Sharma surprised a lot of people including his teammates when he decided to give Khaleel Ahmed the new ball.

K Ahmed has been the most expensive bowler for India in the last two T20 games but he repaid the confidence his skipper showed by bowling his quota and conceding just 27 runs. However, the bowler that destroyed Bangladesh was Deepak Chahar who came on third change. He finished with fine figures conceding 7 runs and taking 6 wickets, which included a hat-trick. He received both the man of the match and man of the series awards for his excellent bowling.

India will be happy at the way S Iyer, D Chahar and Shivam Dube have performed this series and it is quite likely that they will be given more opportunities as India prepares for the T20 World Cup in Australia next year.
