Real Madrid have a narrow lead over Bayern Munich
European champions Real Madrid recorded a narrow 2-1 win in the first leg at the Allianz Arena, despite the German side having the better of the game.
Real Madrid are usually strong at home, but Los Blancos have won just one of their last four games on home soil in all competitions. However, the team from the Spanish capital have lost just one of their last 20 home games in the Champions League. That defeat was in the last round, as Juventus recorded a 3-1 win, but exited the competition 4-3 on aggregate.
Zinedine Zidane’s team have a good recent record in the Champions League overall, winning six of their last seven games in Europe’s elite competition. The Spanish giants have also scored two or more goals six of their last seven games in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich will be kicking themselves that they are not heading into this clash with a lead from the first leg, as Die Roten missed a number of good chances to win the game.
The German giants have won seven of their last nine Champions League games, but have now failed to win in their last two European outings against Sevilla and in the first leg of this tie.
Bayern’s Champions League games have been highly entertaining of late, as 14 of their last 15 outings in Europe’s primary competition have produced over 2.5 goals.
Jupp Heynckes team have won their last four away games in this competition, scoring at least two goals in all four wins. The Bavarians are still underdogs to make it to the final, though.

Reds lead Roma
Liverpool recorded a 5-2 victory over Italian team Roma in the first leg of this tie at Anfield last Tuesday night. Despite the big lead, Liverpool still have work to do ensure a place in the final after Roma’s two late away goals.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are unbeaten in 15 Champions League games, having won seven of their last nine outings in Europe. The Reds are also unbeaten in seven games on their travels in Europe’s elite competition, recording five wins in the process.
Roma have been poor on their travels in Champions League, but their home form in the competition is in complete contrast, as the Giallorossi have won their last four games at the Stadio Olimpico in this competition. Eusebio Di Francesco’s team have also kept clean sheets in their last five home games in Europe. That record faces a stiff test from Mohamed Salah and co.
Largely due to their good defensive record, five of Roma’s last eight home games in the Champions League have produced under 2.5 goals.
Roma look to have a big task on their hands. However, the Giallorossi have a recent history of overcoming such an aggregate deficit after beating Barcelona 3-0 in the last round to progress into the last four on the away goal rule.
