McGregor Will Want Poirier To Win
It’s safe to say there is no love lost between UFC superstar Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. McGregor lost his last fight in the UFC to Poirier by doctor stoppage in July 2021 and has been out of action since then. While McGregor hasn’t been able to train MMA since then, he has continued to use social media to taunt Poirier and tease a return in April 2022.
McGregor and Poirier have fought thrice so far and the record is currently in favour of Poirier 1-2. McGregor believes there is unfinished business between the two and as much as he dislikes Poirier, he might be secretly wishing for Poirier to win as it sets the stage for him to return and push for a title shot.
McGregor has used social media to claim that when he comes back he is going to fight for the lightweight title. He has also teased a move to welterweight and given his current physique which is clear for all to see on Instagram, it looks like he might be taking his move to welterweight very seriously.

The one main reason he would think of cutting the weight and getting back to the lightweight division, is if Poirier wins the title. UFC President Dana White will find it difficult to say no to McGregor as he is still the biggest star in the UFC.
Poirier Not Focused On McGregor
Poirier says his only focus at this time is Oliveira as he knows how dangerous the Brazilian submission specialist is. If he does win the UFC lightweight championship, he might entertain a fourth fight with McGregor as it is going to be another big money fight for the UFC as well as McGregor and Poirier.
