Wilder Takes Legal Action To Get Fury To Fight Him In 2021

Deontay Wilder and Tyson FuryFormer WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder is determined to fight Brit Tyson Fury for the third time. Wilder suffered the first loss of his career when he lost his WBC belt to Fury on Feb 22, 2020.

Fury finished Wilder by TKO in the 7th round after their first fight ended in a unanimous draw. Wilder immediately invoked the rematch clause that he had with Fury to get the third fight going but that has not materialized due to COVID-19 and because both parties were unable to reach an agreement.

Tyson Fury came out a few months ago and said that he was tired of waiting on Deontay Wilder for the third fight and was going to move on and fight someone else in December 2020.

Wilder who stayed off social media for a few months, surfaced immediately and went on a tirade accusing Fury and his camp of a number of unscrupulous things.

Fury is currently under contract with Queensberry Promotions, ESPN and Top Rank. The three companies have to come into agreement and decide who Fury will fight in early 2021.

Frank Warren from Queensberry Promotions has confirmed that Deontay Wilder has taken legal action to force Tyson Fury to fight him next. Warren claims that if the courts rule in favour of Wilder, The Gypsy King will have no other option but to fight Wilder in 2021.

Fury’s legal team is claiming that the contractual obligation has come to an end whereas Wilder’s team claims that the contractual obligation can be extended. It will be up to the judge to decide on the matter and a decision is expected within the next few weeks.

Tyson Fury is keen to have his next fight on British soil as his last few fights have been in the US. He was earlier scheduled to fight on Dec 5 but the arbitration, financial arrangements and start time of the fight did not go down well with Fury and his promoters.

Wilder Continues Wild Accusations

Wilder has been bitter about his loss and has thrown out a number of serious allegations against Tyson Fury. Wilder has accused Fury of hiding something in his gloves, scratching his ears with his nails and getting someone to spike his water with a muscle relaxant. Wilder claims Fury had to cheat him to beat him!

If the third fight does take place in early 2021, it will generate massive interest due to the bad blood between the two.
