Premier League Fantasy Football Gameweek 25 top picks

Updated On Jan 30, 2018 by David Nugent

We are back with our top picks for gameweek 25 of FPL after a good points haul from gameweek 24, with Harry Maguire, Riyad Mahrez and Theo Walcott all producing points. Here are our picks for the latest round of FPL:

Nacho Monreal (Arsenal)

The full-back who has been converted to a centre-back in recent seasons has been producing at both ends of the pitch this season for the Gunners. The Spaniard valued at £5.6m has scored three times and produced two assists this season, which is a better-attacking contribution than any of his last five seasons. The Spaniard has also been a part of a Gunners defence that has kept six clean sheets this season.

The defender ‘s good performances have led to Monreal’s rank of fifth-place among defenders, while he is fifth place among defenders when it comes to picking up bonus points, claiming 13 bonus points.

With a visit to struggling Swansea on Tuesday night and a home game against out-of-form Everton, the defender looks like a shrewd pick for your FPL team. The north London side are big favourites to win both games.

Marc Albrighton (Leicester)

The former Aston Villa winger has shined in recent months for the Foxes. He has contributed two goals and six assists for the men from the Midlands. However, one of his goals and three of his assists have been in the last six games.

At £5.6m, the winger looks like a very budget friendly asset to have your squad, especially if you do not have Foxes teammate Riyad Mahrez. Claude Puel’s side face a trip to Everton on Wednesday night before hosting struggling Swansea City at the King Power. Both of those games could yield points for the winger.

Eric Choupo-Moting (Stoke)

The midfielder offered FPL managers major points earlier in the campaign, as he often operated as a central striker. Choupo-Moting’s form has dropped in recent months. However, he has still produced four goals and five assists this season. The German-born Cameroon international returned to the points last weekend with an asset. As Stoke have a very favourable run of games to come, the midfielder could be back in the points.

The Potters host out-of-form Watford at the Bet365 on Wednesday night, then Paul Lambert’s side travels to the south coast to play Bournemouth. At £5.4m, he is a great option for your fifth midfielder spot. He has the ability to get points while enabling you to bring in more expensive assets because of his relatively cheap price tag.

Punt of the week

Jack Butland (Stoke)

Earlier in his career, Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland was FPL bargain. The England international kept clean sheets and picked up lots of bonus points the process. Just like his career, Butland’s FPL potential has rather stalled this season. Butland has kept just three clean sheets in the top-flight this season. However, one of those clean sheets was in his last outing against Huddersfield. The clean sheet saw him pick up two bonus points, while he also claimed a point from making three saves.

The Potters have conceded the most goals in the top-flight, but boss Paul Lambert’s arrival in the Potteries may just help the team to keep clean sheets. If you fancy a gamble on Butland, his £5m price tag may prove to be an attractive one, especially if you are thinking about playing your wildcard in the near future.
