Premier League Fantasy Football Gameweek 26 top picks

Updated On Feb 2, 2018 by David Nugent

Gameweek 25 was another mixed week for us in the FPL. Jack Butland and Nacho Monreal both picked up points, but Eric Choupo-Moting and Marc Albrighton failed to deliver. Here are our picks for gameweek 26:

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)

The 25-year-old former Coventry striker was one of the standout players in gameweek 25, scoring and producing an assist for the Cherries in a shock 3-0 win at reigning champions Chelsea.

Wilson has now delivered three goals and two assists in his last five Premier League appearances. He has also scored seven goals in the English top-flight this season.

At £5.9m, Wilson is ideal to fill your third striker spot. A weekend clash with Stoke is not an easy one, with the Potters recent improvement. However, it is a winnable game, with Bournemouth favourites to record a win. The fixtures after this weekend are also favourable for the Cherries.

Harry Maguire (Leicester)

The England international is developing into one of the best ball-playing centre-backs in the Premier League. Not only does he offer the promise of clean sheets, three in his last four appearances, he also offers an attacking threat.

Maguire has scored two goals and produced four assists for the side from the Midlands this season. The big England defender offers a major threat on set-pieces, but also often comes out of defence with the ball. He has already picked up ten points this season.

The Foxes face a home game with relegation-threatened Swansea this weekend. Although the Welsh side have hit a spot of form, the centre-back should still give a decent points return for the defender valued at £5.5m.

Jay Rodriguez (West Brom)

The former Burnley forward seems to now be over his injury problems and has hit some decent form of late. The 28-year-old has provided attacking returns in three of his last five league appearances, scoring twice and producing one assist.

He also scored a brace for the Baggies at Liverpool in the FA Cup to help Alan Pardew’s side through to the fifth round.

The arrival of England international forward Daniel Sturridge could be seen as a threat to Rodriguez’s starting spot. However, Baggies boss Pardew has used two strikers at times this season, so could pair the two dangerous strikers.

Rodriguez’s price tag of £5.5m looks a bargain, as especially as the Baggies hose out-of-form Southampton at the Hawthorns this weekend.

Punt of the week

Alexis Sanchez (Manchester United)

Now some will ask how a seasoned Premier League star is a punt of the week. There are two reasons for this assessment. The first is his price tag, as only the prolific Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero have higher values than the £11.7m valued midfielder.

The other reason is that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has to work out how to fit his talented group of attacking players into one team. It could take Sanchez some time to settle in a new team and maybe a new position.

However, despite the negatives, Sanchez has the explosive ability to deliver major points tallies, as he has proven in previous seasons. A home fixture this weekend against out-of-form Huddersfield offers the Chilean a chance to get off the mark for the Red Devils.
