Premier League Fantasy Football Gameweek 31 top picks

Updated On Mar 16, 2018 by David Nugent

Gameweek 30 of FPL was a bad one for a lot of players involved, with a number of big players missing out through injury. For us, Christopher Schindler and Seamus Coleman delivered points, while Leroy Sane and Steve Mounie failed to yield any points.

With a vastly depleted gameweek, here are our top picks:

Jack Butland (Stoke)

The England goalkeeper may be playing for a team fighting against relegation, but that has not stopped him picking up a decent haul of points in recent weeks. Butland has kept just five clean sheets this season. However, three of those five have been in the last seven gameweeks.

The 25-year-old has also picked up bonus points in three of those seven gameweeks. The Potters come up against an Everton side that are struggling for away wins and at £5million seems like a sensible pick. Paul Lambert’s side are slight favourites heading into the clash.

Leighton Baines (Everton)

In the past veteran full-back Leighton Baines has been a dream asset for FPL players. The former England international is a defender who takes set pieces and has in the past more importantly taken penalty kicks.

With Gylfi Sigurdsson sidelined through injury, Baines is likely to resume set-piece duties. Baines may also be back on penalty kicks after Wayne Rooney missed a spot-kick against Brighton, which was not his first miss of the season.

While Everton have not kept many clean sheets of late, the full-back offers good value at £5.6million because of his attacking threat. Saturday’s opponents Stoke are not exactly full of goals, so it could prove a profitable game for Baines.

Junior Stanislas (Bournemouth)

The former West Ham winger’s season has been hampered by injury and inconsistency. However, when he has been on the pitch, he has combined well with the likes of Callum Wilson and Jordon Ibe.

Stanislas has finally together a run of appearances for the Cherries in the league, starting six games while contributing three goals and an assist in the process. With options limited, the £6million rated star looks to be a very promising asset for gameweek 31, especially as the Cherries host bottom of the table West Brom at the Vitality Stadium. Stanislas will be confident of adding to the goal he scored against Tottenham last time out in the Premier League.

Xherdan Shaqiri (Stoke)

Due to the lack of games, Stoke’s Swiss playmaker has been one of the most in-demand players for gameweek 31. The former Bayern Munich star looks like a must-have for any self-respecting FPL player, as he has the potential to score big this weekend.

Shaqiri has scored seven goals and has also produced six assists in by far his most productive Premier League campaign so far. Three of those five goals have been in the last five gameweeks, although he has blanked in his last two appearances.

The visit of travel sick Everton to the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday offers the £6.4m rated attacking midfielder the chance to add to his tally. The Toffees have lost their last five away games in the top-flight, conceding 14 times in the process, so this seems like the perfect opportunity for Shaqiri to continue his productive campaign.

Who will be the best performers in FPL’s gameweek 31?
