The Most Violent Women In The World Will Light Up Vegas At UFC 222

Updated On Mar 13, 2018 by David Nugent

There was a time when Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) was predominantly a male dominated sport.

Things have changed significantly in the last 5 years and on Saturday night at UFC 222, some of the most violent women in the world will put in a show at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Cyborg To Headline UFC 222

Few will argue with the fact that Cris “Cyborg” Santos has been the most violent woman in MMA for over a decade. The UFC women’s featherweight champion was not expected to fight at UFC 222 as the scheduled Main Event was a title fight between UFC featherweight champion Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway and New Jersey’s own Frankie Edgar.

Holloway pulled out due to injury and the UFC succeeded in getting Cyborg to headline the card and save the pay-per-view. Cyborg who has a (19-1, 1 NC) record will defend her belt against Russian Yana Kunitskaya (10-3, 1 NC) who is making her debut in the UFC. Cyborg once again goes in as a heavy favourite (-1650) but she is not taking this fight lightly as Kunitskaya trains at the famed Jackson-Wink academy.

MMA has truly come along way as this is yet another pay-per-view that is being headlined by female fighters.

Cat Zingano And McKenzie Dern Bring The Heat

Some of the other big name fighters that will step into the Octagon at UFC 222 include Cat Zingano and debutant McKenzie Dern. These two women have great credentials in combat sports but they also bring the glam factor to the sport as there’s no denying that both of them are easy on the eye and have a huge social media following.

Zingano (rank 6) is making her return to the Octagon after an 18 month absence will fight Brazilian Ketlen Vieira (ranked 5) who is undefeated. Cat Zingano will want to win either by KO or submission as that will most likely put her in a great spot to go after a title fight. Zingano is one of the few women to have defeated current UFC Bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and she desperately wants to get another shot at Nunes.

McKenzie Dern is a legend in the world of Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ). She has transitioned to MMA and is very inexperienced in the sport but will use her BJJ experience to see if she can defeat Ashley Yoder. Dern has a lot of hype behind her and many have compared her to former champion Ronda Rousey.
